Clinical pathology involves the laboratory evaluation of blood, bodily fluids or body tissues in order to identify existing disease. Common laboratory tests include blood chemistries, complete blood counts, blood clotting times, urinalysis, faecal tests, biopsy examination, cultures and infectious disease testing.
We are equipped with an in-house laboratory that allows our veterinarians to perform many diagnostic tests to achieve an accurate and rapid diagnosis. This is especially important in very ill animals and those requiring immediate or emergency treatment as our in-house laboratory can provide results on the same day.
Our in-house laboratory equipment includes:
For more specialised tests, it may be necessary to conduct these at an external veterinary laboratory. Please note that results from specialised testing will take longer, as the sample needs to be sent to an external facility. Typically, results from external laboratories are received within 24 to 48 hours for blood tests, and up to 14 days for biopsy results, depending on the type of test being conducted. Your veterinarian will contact you with your pet's results as soon as they are available.
