Cat / Kitten Re-homing Program

Since the beginning of 2009 the Mt Barker Veterinary Hospital has been running a kitten / cat re-homing program.

The program was motivated by the number of enquiries we were receiving about stray and feral cats, and the lack of accessible resources to address this issue. The veterinary hospital decided we needed to be more proactive in the welfare of these animals by providing the public with a means to deal with these stray and feral cats in a responsible manner.

Our kitten / cat re-homing program is run solely by the staff of the Mt Barker Veterinary Hospital. All equipment and health care services are provided by our nurses and veterinarians. The time for caring for the kittens/cats is allocated both within our normal working hours, and donated on weekends.

We are very passionate about our kitten / cat re-homing program which operates as a not for profit project. Each re-homed feline has an adoption fee which is invested back into the program to contribute to the raw cost of caring for these animals. The adoption fees are only a fraction of the real costs and extensive labour needed to run such a program. Mt Barker Veterinary Hospital gratefully accepts any donations to help save more lives, whether it be food, cages, toys, bedding, or monetary gifts.
